In this subject, students cover issues involved in developing and refining research questions, selecting and developing research designs and analysing of quantitative data relevant to the health sciences. A variety of appropriate designs and analytical techniques, commonly employed in health research, will be examined and critically appraised, with emphasis on the interpretation and discussion of results.

Prerequisites: Student enrolled in one of the following course codes HMPHC, HZPHID, HMG, HMHS, HMASCR or HZPHHA must pass all first year subjects. Students from other courses must pass PHE5IST or an equivalent subject.
