Hellenic Folk Dress exhibition

Folk culture in Greece is expressed in many different forms, with each region unique in styles of music, dance, food, dress and dialect. The costumes we see in this digital exhibition reflect the differences between each area. Regional folk culture and tradition determined the number of pieces, types of fabric, design patterns and colour schemes of each garment.

The Hellenic Folk Dress exhibition features eleven full costumes from the Dardalis Archives of the Hellenic Diaspora collection, showcasing folk tradition from all over Greece. Many of the costumes in the collection were donated by Margarita's Greek Folkloric dance group.
