Accessibility in the Library

We offer support and services to all Library users and resources for all educational needs.

Together with the University's AccessAbility and Inclusion team, the Library can help you find the resources needed to meet the requirements of your course. These services include:

  • retrieving items from shelves
  • extended loan periods
  • photocopying and enlarging print
  • research, finding, and referencing information.

If you require any of these services but have not already registered with AccessAbility and Inclusion, please do so now.

Available resources

The Library provides the following resources to assist with your studies and research:

  • Accessible computer services and equipment, including the AccessAbility and Inclusion rooms at the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus library and priority booking of Study room 1 at the Albury-Wodonga campus library.
  • Alternative formats for Library materials are available, such as digital documents, text-to-speech options, and PDFs converted into accessible formats.
  • Search by voice when using the Library collections search (our main tool for finding articles and books) in a compatible web browser (Chrome and Edge are recommended).
  • All Library levels are wheelchair accessible. Check our mobility maps to find out how to access campus buildings.

Assistive technology

Assistive technology helps people who have difficulty speaking, typing, writing, remembering, pointing, seeing, hearing, learning, walking and many other things. Our dedicated Assistive Technology Teams channel at La Trobe University (LTU) can support you in enhancing your study practices by using assistive technology.

Join the Teams channel to access:

  • a current list of available assistive technologies
  • comprehensive guides on each of the technologies
  • a chat forum to discuss options
  • regular announcements showcasing new technology.
