Filming and photography in the Library

La Trobe staff and students can take photographs or short videos for personal use or class assignments, using hand-held devices and without formal authorisation, provided staff and other users are not photographed or inconvenienced.

You must get permission from the Library for any filming or photography that meets any of the following criteria:

  • for commercial purposes
  • conducted by news media
  • for wider distribution
  • includes shots of recognisable faces
  • requires any additional equipment
  • requires moving of any furniture.

Before requesting permission, please read the guidelines for filming and photography on Library premises [PDF 88KB].

To request permission, complete and submit the form below at least one week in advance of the scheduled event. We usually reply within two business days. A copy of your approved request must be available for presentation to staff anytime during filming.
