Join us for Sustainability Week from 18-24 March 2024 – a celebration of La Trobe’s commitment to a greener, more sustainable future.

Explore key themes like climate change action, circular economies, responsible consumption, green transportation, freshwater management and biodiversity.

Engage in nature activities, become a waste warrior, attend expert talks on climate change, enjoy free breakfast by riding to uni, and more. There are also locally run events and initiatives taking place in the regions, giving you the opportunity to connect with your local community!

Monday 18th March

Pre-loved Swap Shop

Refresh your wardrobe, save money and help fight waste. Participate in this community swap event bringing in your pre-loved items and find yourself new clothes, accessories, books and more!

Panel: connecting agriculture and sustainability

Agriculture has a large presence in Australia, socially, economically and environmentally. It is also a major research strength for La Trobe University, with expertise and application across a range of fields. This panel presentation brings together four PhD students who are researching the connections between agriculture and sustainability through a range of lenses, including microbiology, ecology, economics and social research.

Urban cycling confidence workshop

This workshop is for adults who can ride confidently on shared paths and wish to start riding on the road. Earth Hour Sanctuary Twilight Tour

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organised by the WWF, encouraging businesses, communities and individuals to switch off their lights for one hour. Bendigo

  • The Bendigo Sustainability Festival 2024 will be taking place on Sunday 17 March where you can purchase, learn and explore many new and creative ways to live. Host of ABC’s War on Waste, Craig Reucassel, will be this year’s guest speaker.
  • Looking to avoid plastics in your life? The City of Greater Bendigo has listed 34 everyday items you can swap for a more sustainable version.
  • You can also check out their A-Z guide for everything you need to know about recycling your textiles, e-waste or hard rubbish.

Mildura

  • LTSA are hosting a Pop-up stall on 18 March in the Brian Grogan Building which includes a clothing swap and student pantry items.
  • Looking to buy local or event something pre-loved? Go along to the Car Boot and Market Stall on 23 March.
  • Have you visited the Mildura Eco Village? This four-hectare sustainable living site includes a community garden, education centre and eco house.
  • Love trees? Did you know there are 27 native and exotic trees that makeup the Mildura Riverfront Tree Trail and you can follow the trail map to learn more.
