Returning home

Welcome back to Australia! We hope you had an unforgettable experience abroad.
Here, you'll find important information on your next steps, the La Trobe Abroad Ambassador Program, and how you can use your global experience to improve your employability.
Transcripts and credit
Students who completed a semester abroad or a short term partner program will receive an official academic transcript from the host partner.
Receiving your transcript: The transcript is typically sent to the La Trobe Abroad office. However, if it’s sent to you directly, please email a copy to La Trobe Abroad.
Collecting your transcript: Once La Trobe Abroad receives your transcript, we will notify you by email with instructions on how to collect the transcript.
Submitting your transcript: It is your responsibility to then submit the official transcript to La Trobe via the Global Experience Credit Approval (GECA) form.
WAM calculations: Subjects completed on a semester abroad or short term partner program will not be calculated in your Weighted Average Mark (WAM) - your WAM is calculated on La Trobe subjects only.
NOTE: Please ensure to keep the original transcript for your own records.
Become a La Trobe Abroad Ambassador
The Ambassador program gives you the opportunity to inspire others, gain valuable leadership and communication skills, and is an ideal volunteer experience to add to your resume.
As a La Trobe Abroad Ambassador, you’ll have the chance to engage in a variety of activities, including sharing your experiences through photos and stories, writing a MyLaTrobe article about your time overseas, and participating in La Trobe Abroad events such as the Study Abroad Expo and Information Sessions.
Join the program and make a lasting impact while enhancing your professional development.
Careers and employability
Now that you’re back from your overseas experience, you can use your experience to gain credit as part of the Career Ready Advantage Award. The program is designed to help you prepare for your life beyond La Trobe.
The Career Advantage Award is structured to make it easy to record and build on your experiences – through part-time work, internships, and participation in volunteering, international programs, and other extra-curricular activities. By recording your activities and reflecting on your learning, you'll build up a portfolio of experiences and evidence of skills, which you’ll be able to present to employers when the time comes to apply for graduate jobs.
