LGBTIQA+ Ally and Bystander Training
Our LGBTIQA+ Ally Training is designed to help you better understand LGBTIQA+ experiences and learn how to be an active ally.
Want to help create a more welcoming and inclusive culture at La Trobe? Join our Ally Training to build your awareness of the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, queer, questioning and asexual (LGBTIQA+) students and staff – and what you can do to support them.
What you’ll learn
Training covers:
- understanding commonly used terms
- experiences of young people from the LGBTIQA+ community
- recognising and responding to transphobia, homophobia and biphobia
- creating an inclusive culture and providing support
- valuing and celebrating LGBTIQA+ people and culture.
After completing this training you’ll receive a certificate of attendance that you can also add to your CV.
Content note: This training includes sensitive content on topics such as gender-based violence.
Who can attend
This training is open to all La Trobe students and staff.
While everyone is welcome to attend, the training is specifically designed for straight allies who want to learn more about the experiences of LGBTIQA+ communities and how they can take action.
