Albury-Wodonga

Library

The David Mann Library has a range of study spaces, computer workstations, wireless internet, photocopying and print services. It's a shared facility with Wodonga TAFE and The Murray-Darling Freshwater Centre.

Dedicated La Trobe librarians can assist with research and other information needs. La Trobe students have access to the full library collection, plus all borrowable materials held at any La Trobe campus library through a very efficient intercampus lending system. La Trobe library's extensive holdings of online journals and other electronic resources are accessible 24/7 and University-networked computers are readily available.

Computer labs

There are two computer labs located in Building 3A. These computing labs are currently not available for general access. Please familiarise yourself with the rules and regulations governing the use of computer facilities at La Trobe [PDF 65KB].

Group study rooms

Bookings for the four study rooms can be made at the Information Desk. You can use these rooms for up to two hours.

  • All group study rooms have access to a DVD and a VHS player, as well as a large screen computer. You can book these rooms
  • Group study room 1 contains an additional computer with specialised equipment for people with disabilities. Students with a disability are given priority
  • A group study space with 4 large tables and 24 chairs is also available for group study

Quiet study

Carrels and tables for private study are situated around the library on both levels.

  • Food is not to be consumed in any of these areas
  • Noise levels must be kept to a minimum
  • Mobile phones must be switched off

Group study spaces

Group tables

Easy chairs for relaxed reading are located on level 2, group tables are located on the mezzanine floor and level 2. When weather permits, the level 2 balcony is open to students. Noise levels must be kept to a minimum.

Group study rooms

There are three group study rooms on level 2 available to La Trobe University students only. These can be booked up to two weeks in advance and up to four time slots per day.

  • Minimum of three students required
  • Click on book room and use the calendar to select the desired day
  • If the time slot is green, the room is available to book
  • Click on the time period for which you would like the room
  • Read terms of use and select continue
  • Enter your name and your La Trobe University student email address to receive a booking confirmation
  • To cancel a booking, click on the link from your confirmation email
  • Bookings will be forfeited if you do not arrive within 15 minutes of your booking start time

Quiet study spaces

Individual study desks for private, silent study are located on level 3. The library training room on level 2 is allocated for silent study. Availability is dependent on library training, check the training bookings at the entry.

Places to study for Higher Degree Research Students

Higher Degree by Research students can access the Research Study Lounge on Level 3 of the library.

The Research Study Lounge has:

  • 6 individual study desks with power (5 also have networked PCs)
  • A quiet discussion area with relaxed comfortable seating area for 6 and coffee tables

Register at the Library Desk to have swipe card access to this area activated.

The Gambetta Library houses a significant print collection, and has a range of learning spaces, computer workstations, wireless internet access, photocopying and print services.

As well as the local collection, La Trobe students have access to materials from all other La Trobe campus libraries. La Trobe library's extensive holdings of online journals, digitised course materials and other electronic resources are accessible at any time and University-networked computers are readily available. Students also have access to other national and international library collections.

Sydney

Library

Located on Level 8, the Sydney Campus Library has stunning views of the city. Overlooking Hyde Park and St Mary's Cathedral, the view stretches across the city skyline to Sydney Harbour and offers a calm and welcoming environment for studying.

The Library has courses books and reading materials for all La Trobe University Sydney Campus courses. Students can also request books be transferred from La Trobe's other libraries. Students can book meeting rooms and study areas for group work, and utilise the many study nooks and chill-out areas. Computers are also available.

Saturday: 8.30am - 1.30pm

If you need help or aren't sure how to find books, our friendly library staff are available to help and answer any questions.

Computer labs

There are two computer labs at the Sydney Campus for enrolled students to use. Computer labs are open to students during standard campus open hours.

During term

Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 9:00pm
Saturday – Sunday, closed (except by pre-arrangement)

Holidays

Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
Saturday – Sunday, closed (except by pre-arrangement)

Touch-down stations are also available throughout the Sydney Campus, with both computers and power-points for students who choose to bring their own device.

Please note, computer labs are also used for lecture and tutorial purposes. Students are asked to make use of the touch-down stations in the event the computer labs are occupied by a class.

Free wireless internet is also available throughout the campus.

Additional computers are available for use in the library on level 8. The library opening hours are:
