La Trobe Podiatry Clinic

The La Trobe Podiatry Clinic delivers high quality clinical podiatry services to the community, assessing and managing a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.

The Clinic’s purpose-built facilities include 17 consulting rooms, a paediatric consultation room, operating theatre, orthoses laboratory, plaster casting room and a 40-seat lecture theatre.

Our services are provided by students, under the close supervision of a registered podiatrist. As a teaching facility, we offer heavily discounted fees, with no Medicare or private insurance rebates.

Patients do not require a doctor’s referral to attend the Clinic and appointments can be made 24 hours in advance.

We are a healthcare clinic, so please to not attend if you are unwell.

Services

Our services include:

  • General foot care including the treatment of skin (callus, corns, warts) and nail disorders
  • Management of foot and ankle pain and deformities
  • Biomechanical analysis
  • Orthotic therapy
  • Sports injuries
  • Paediatrics
  • Prevention and management of diabetes-related foot conditions
  • Tests to check blood supply and nerve function to the feet
  • Skin and nail surgery
  • Injection therapy
  • Referral for x-ray and ultrasound imaging
  • Footwear advice and education
  • Fitting of surgical shoes and cam walkers
  • Shockwave therapy.

Opening hours

The La Trobe Podiatry Clinic opens during University semesters from Monday to Thursday.

Reception hours are from 9.30am-3pm, Monday to Friday.

Clinic operation hours are from 9.30am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 10.30am on Thursday.

Various time slots are available on Clinic days.

The Clinic is closed in December and January.

Fees

Our fees cover administrative costs and materials.

First consultation: $39*

Ongoing consultations: $23

There is an additional fee for other services, such as orthotic therapy and surgical procedures.

*All La Trobe students and staff receive a free initial consultation on presentation of their student or staff card. La Trobe alumnus are entitled to a 50% discount off the initial podiatry consultation.

Location

We are located at La Trobe University’s Melbourne campus in Bundoora.

By car

Enter the north entrance of La Trobe University at Kingsbury Drive.

Drive through car park 9 and follow the road to the turnoff to enter car park 9C.

You will see Health Sciences Clinic signs. Parking at this location is free for patients.

*Please arrive early for your appointment, obtain a free parking permit from reception and place it on your dashboard.

By public transport

FAQs

A typical appointment will last approximately 90 minutes.

There is no limit to the number of appointments. This is based on clinical need and will be discussed with you during your consultation.

The services of the Clinic are heavily subsidised. No further discount is available for pensioners or Health Care Card holders.

The Clinic is staffed by qualified podiatrists who are on site for the duration of the clinical sessions and are available to give students direction as required. They will directly observe treatment being provided and will confirm all aspects of assessment and management at the completion of the consultation.

Unfortunately, these funds are not able to be used for payment of services as we are a teaching facility.
