Background

The College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce (ASSC) would like to support students who undertake an Education Placement or Work Integrated Learning (WIL) by offering Employment Grants


Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • be enrolled as a domestic undergraduate student.

  • undertaking an Education placement subject or WIL as part of your course.

  • be enrolled in an undergraduate placement subject that commences within the enrolment period of 1 January to 30 June 2019.

  • meet criteria for financial disadvantage.

  • Please note, students undertaking more than one placement are only eligible to receive one employment grant per academic year.

  • Please also note, grants are only available to students undertaking an unpaid internship.

Students enrolled in postgraduate courses are not eligible for this grant.

Students will be ranked by criteria around the financial disadvantage criteria within VTAC SEAS and equity scholarships.

Other indicators will be considered such as low SES status, first in family, regional status, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and distance travelled to placement.

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:


  • An application addressing eligibility criteria
  • Placement subjects undertaken as part of studies.
  • Experience must be a minimum of 70 hours in duration.
  • Students must be enrolled in subjects that commence within the enrolment period of 1 January to 30 June 2018.
  • Please note, internships that are not related to a specific subject are not covered by the employment grant.

Recipient obligations

The grant is intended to assist you with your placement and may be used at your discretion. If you do not complete the placement you may be required to repay the grant in full.
