Research Professor at La Trobe Law Shool. Head and founder of the Institute of Law and Technology at Autonomous Unversity of Barcelona (http://idt.uab.cat).

I have been Principal Investigator in over 50 national, European, and international projects. I edited/authored about 15 books and more than 200 scientific articles in the areas of legal philosophy, legal sociology, intellectual history, pragmatics, the Semantic Web, and Artificial Intelligence & Law. My recent publications include regulatory models to implement security and privacy on the Web of Data. I am developing linked demoracy and the meta-rule of law. My research interests comprise both cyber-security to fight organized crime, and Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) and crowdsourcing to protect rights and foster citizens' political participation. I work at the crossroads of computer science, law and society (See my DBLP records: http://dblp.uni-trier.de/pers/hd/c/Casanovas:Pompeu). I am also writing on legal anthropology and intellectual history.

At present, I am acting as General Co-Editor of the Law, Governance and Technology Series (LGTS, Springer Verlag),  the Journal of Open Access to Law (JOAL, University of Cornell), and the Journal of Catalan Intellectual History (de Gruyter Open). I belong to the Scientific Board of Directors of the European Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in Law, Science and Technology (2012-2017), and to JURIX Steering Committee.

I have been General Coordinator and co-director of the Catalan White Book on Mediation (Catalan Government, 2009-2011) at the Department of Justice (Catalan Government). I also conducted research for the Spanish Council for the Judiciary (1997-2003), and served many years as Professor at the Spanish Judiciary School (Training Education Program for Justices, Judges and Magistrates), and at the Spanish Ministry of Justice (Training Education Program for Prosecutors).

I had a Spanish and French education (Alliance Française). I hold a Doctorate in Philosophy, and Degrees in Law (UAB) and in Philosophy (UAB).
