Flow Cytometry

Flow cytometry is a sensitive technology used for analysis or physical collection of fluorescently labelled cells. Parameters measured by the cytometer include relative cell size, granularity and fluorescence across multiple channels. Data corresponding to each cell is plotted in histograms and dot plots to enable cell subsets to be precisely defined, compared and quantified.

Flow Cytometry offers researchers access to sophisticated equipment for both cell analysis and cell sorting. The facility provides users with training and technical support to self-operate our cell analysers. A cell sorter located in a PC2 certified laboratory is also available, as well as a cell sorting service.

FACSCanto II HTS cell analyser (3 laser)

Use this cell analyser with three lasers (blue, red, violet) to measure up to eight fluorescence colours. This instrument also offers a convenient high-throughput sampler for automated analysis of cells in a 96-well plate. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

FACSCanto II HTS cell analyser (2 laser)

Use this cell analyser with blue and red lasers to measure up to six fluorescence colours. The instrument includes a convenient high-throughput sampler for automated analysis of cells in a 96-well plate. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

FACSAria III cell sorter (4 laser)

Access this sorter in a PC2 certified facility. Configured with four lasers (violet, blue, yellow/green, red) and multiple detectors, this instrument is suitable for sorting up to 14 fluorescence colours with deposition of up to four cell populations simultaneously in tubes or plates, with temperature control. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

CytoFLEX S flow cytometer analyser

We have two CytoFLEX S analysers equipped with four lasers (violet, blue, yellow/green, and red) enabling analysis for up to 13 fluorescence colours. The instrument includes a convenient plate sampler for automated analysis of cells in a 96-well format. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

BD FACS Aria Fusion cell sorter (5 Lasers)

Access this sorter in a PC2 certified facility. Configured with five lasers (UV, violet, blue, yellow/green, red) and multiple detectors, this instrument is suitable for sorting up to 17 fluorescence colours with deposition of up to four cell populations simultaneously in tubes or plates, with temperature control. The sorter is housed in a BSC class II cabinet and is equipped with a small particle detector for detection of sub-cellular particles. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

BD FACS Symphony A3 HTS cell analyser (5 Lasers)

Use this cell analyser equipped with UV, blue, violet, red and yellow/green lasers to measure up to 28 fluorescence colours. The instrument includes a convenient high-throughput sampler (HTS) for automated analysis of cells in a 96-well plate. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

BD FACS Symphony A1 HTS cell analyser (4 Lasers)

Use this cell analyser equipped with blue, violet, red and yellow/green lasers to measure up to 16 fluorescence colours. This instrument includes a small particle detector for analysis of extracellular vesicles. The instrument includes a convenient high-throughput sampler (HTS) for automated analysis of cells in a 96-well plate. The laser configuration can be viewed by clicking here.

Data Analysis

The platform offers FlowJo portal licenses for post-acquisition analysis of flow cytometry data, and a data analysis service and cell sorting service.
