La Trobe’s Politics and Philosophy subjects rank in the top 200 in the world, and we rank in the top 10 universities in Australia for Philosophy, Politics & International Studies, and Social Policy & Administration (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016). Our Political Science research ranks first equal in Victoria and ‘above world standard’ (ERA 2015-2016 assessment).
La Trobe’s Politics and Philosophy Department embraces flexible teaching deliveries and offer summer and winter subjects. Our studies options include the Bachelor of International Relations, the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics, the Master of International Relations and the Master of International Development. There are also various double degrees on offer as well as the ability to undertake majors and minors in politics and philosophy within other courses of study.
Our numerous work placement subjects give students the opportunity to take steps toward building their careers such as the possibility of undertaking a Victorian Parliamentary internship.
Our staff contribute to the community both locally and internationally through their expertise in social justice, equity, and power in society.
