La Trobe College Excellence Scholarships

Do you have an excellent academic record? Apply for a La Trobe College Excellence Scholarship and receive up to a 25% reduction on your course fees.

La Trobe University values academic excellence. If you are a high-achieving international student and thinking about applying for a full-fee paying place in undergraduate or postgraduate study, your application will also be assessed for eligibility to receive a scholarship for the duration of your intended studies at La Trobe.

The La Trobe College Excellence Scholarship (CES) is a scholarship available to cover tuition fees for high-achieving international students accepted into our undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs. The scholarships are worth between a 15%, 20% and 25% deduction on annual tuition fees for the duration of your studies and are limited in number.

Who is eligible?

You must be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to start an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program. This scholarship is not available to students who are currently enrolled in a La Trobe program.

You must meet our English language and academic entry requirements. You are not eligible if you are starting a Postgraduate Research degree, Exchange program, Study Abroad program, Postgraduate Enabling Program, ELICOS, Foundation Studies program, or Diploma course.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must:

  • be applying to study an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at all La Trobe campuses (excluding Sydney).
  • meet course prerequisites and have equivalent to a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 65 per cent or higher (Australian Equivalency).

How to apply

It’s simple, all you need to do is apply for your course, if your chosen course is eligible to receive the scholarship and you meet the course entry requirements, the Scholarship Team will consider your scholarship eligibility.

Once you receive your scholarship award letter (via email), its is important that you meet any conditions in your offer (if applicable) and accept your offer as soon as possible to secure your scholarship.

Undergraduate and postgraduate regional campus scholarships (up to $5,000)

These scholarships offer up to $5,000 worth of tuition fees for international students studying undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs at one of our regional campuses.

Who is eligible?

You must meet the English language and academic requirements for your course, and have an unconditional offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at one of our regional campuses.

2020 La Trobe University 50% Vietnamese Excellence Scholarship

The scholarship offers a 50% deduction on annual tuition fees for international students studying undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs for the entire duration of their course

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a citizen and resident of Vietnam.
  • Applicants must be eligible for direct entry (no ELICOS or pathway) commencing full fee-paying undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree which is under the “La Trobe College Excellence Scholarship” eligibility list.
  • The applicant must commence their studies at any of La Trobe University campuses (excluding Sydney campus) in the 1st semester of 2020.
  • Applicant must meet the University's English language entry requirements and other major condition started in the letter of offer before 15 January 2020
  • As a scholarship award recipient, the student must be willing to be an international student ambassador for La Trobe International during their study period.

Selection Criteria

  • Awardee will be selected based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, evidence of awards and certificates demonstrating their excellence and leadership skill beyond academic scope, personal statement/CV.

How to apply

  • Applicant must provide a detailed CV with not more than 250 - word justification summary of "What excellence means to me" at the time of the course application submission.
  • Applicants who have already submitted an application for semester 1, 2020 will be considered if they have met the eligibility criteria and send us the CV & justification before 15 January 2020.

External scholarships

Australia Awards Scholarships

Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). This Commonwealth-funded scheme offers scholarship opportunities to international students from developing countries to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study in Australia. DFAT provide opportunities for people from developing countries, particularly those countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at La Trobe University.

Instituto Colombiano de Credito Educativo y Estudios Tecnicos en el Exterior (ICETEX)

La Trobe University has partnered with ICETEX to promote the access of Colombian students to postgraduate studies at La Trobe University. This scholarship scheme is for Colombian students who  will study Master and PhD programs in the areas included in Colombia Scientific Program identified by ICETEX.

  • La Trobe University waive a 25% reduction of the tuition fees for up to (2) two years to all Master students under the La Trobe-Icetex collaboration agreement.
  • La Trobe University waive a 30% reduction of the tuition fees for up to (4) four years to all PhD students under the La Trobe-Icetex collaboration agreement.
  • La Trobe provide ELICOS scholarships to eligible Icetex candidates who require English language courses for up to 10 weeks.

CONACyT

La Trobe partnership with CONACyT (Mexican National Council for Science and Technology) supports high achieving Mexican students accepted and enrolled in Masters and PhD programs at La Trobe.

La Trobe will waive a 25% reduction of the tuition fees for a number of Masters students (up to 2 (two) years tuition).

La Trobe University waive a 25% reduction of the tuition fees for a number of PhD students (up to 4 (four) years tuition).

CONACyT scholarships cover tuition fees, a stipend and annual support of health cover.

How to Apply

  • Candidates must first apply to La Trobe University and receive an acceptance letter. For details on how to submit an application please go to How to apply.
  • Applicants then need to apply through CONACyT. Calls are open from approximately April – June each year, please confirm the deadlines on the CONACyT website.​
  • If you have any questions on the CONACYT process, please contact our in country representative in Mexico· Successful l students will r receive a 25% tuition discount for Master and PhD's programs if they are approved for a CONACYT's scholarship.
