Work Integrated Learning placements

The Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary offers a range of Work Integrated Learning placements for current La Trobe University students.

Current La Trobe University students can apply to undertake an placement with the Wildlife Sanctuary. Our placements are designed to give students the opportunities to develop work ready skills for the land management, horticulture and conservation industries.

Students must be enrolled in a relevant Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subject, usually LTU3IND (Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation and Biology or Bachelor of Science) or AGR2WIL (Bachelor or Agricultural Sciences or Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences) to be considered for a placement.

We also offer internships to students enrolled in other relevant subjects/courses (previously, we have hosted marketing, tourism, event management and communication students). Contact us to discuss potential projects that could form a placement.

While placements can be taken at any time of the year, the work undertaken may vary depending on the season. Project specific placements may also be available at certain times.

*We are a true wildlife sanctuary, not a zoo , we focus on looking after and enhancing the habitat for the local wildlife. We do not offer animal handling or husbandry experiences.
