Industry Placements

The Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary offers a range of Industry Placements for current La Trobe University students.

Current La Trobe University students can apply to undertake an placement with the Wildlife Sanctuary. Our placements are designed to give students the opportunities to develop work ready skills for the land management, horticulture and conservation industries.

Students must be enrolled in a relevant Industry Placement subject, usually LTU3IND or Industry Placement Minor.

The students we host are often studying Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation and Biology or Bachelor of Science, but we also offer placements to students enrolled in other relevant subjects/courses (previously, we have hosted marketing, tourism, event management and communication students). Contact us to discuss potential projects that could form a placement.

LTU3IND

Placements can be taken at any time of the year, however the work undertaken may vary depending on the season. The following placement description is relevant to students enrolled in LTU3IND:

Industry Placement Minor

These 200-400 hour placements provide an opportunity to take on a focus project and to fully immerse yourself into the day to day operations of the Wildlife Sanctuary.

Industry Placement Minor placements will be offered as a University Sourced Placement. Please refer to your course coordinator and/or the placement page for more information

*We are a true wildlife sanctuary, not a zoo , we focus on looking after and enhancing the habitat for the local wildlife. We do not offer animal handling or husbandry experiences.
