Duration of residency

All Residential Agreements are valid for the full academic year unless otherwise individually negotiated.

Cancellation fees

If you wish to vacate your residence once you have checked in, you must complete your online web departure form, via the StarPortal.

You are required to provide at least 28 days notice that you are vacating (from the date of submitting your web departure form) and will be required to pay for the duration of your contract.

All outstanding accounts must be settled at the time of vacating.


The $560 bond is paid by either Visa or MasterCard on StarPortal before you move in, when you accept your offer of accommodation.

Compulsory fees*

These are one-off annual fees, payable prior to when you first move in and at the start of every year that you are in residence.


The rent is calculated as a daily rate, and charged to your account on the first working day of very month. The rent is due by the fifth working day of the month and is payable in advance. For example, if the daily rate for your residence is A$28 per day, and you are paying for the month of March (31 days), the amount owing is A$28 x 31 days = A$868; and is due by the 7th of March.


From time to time there will be charges that can go on your account, e.g. tickets for a residence event, lock out or late fees. If you are not the person that pays the account, it is your responsibility to communicate these charges to the person that does pay the account.

SMS Reminder: an SMS will be sent to remind residents that rent is due. If you are not the person that pays the account, it is your responsibility to communicate this to the person that does pay the account.


Please pay either in person at the Accommodation Services office using Visa, MasterCard or Amex on EFTPOS. Online payments can be made via the StarRez Portal using Visa or MasterCard. Direct Debit Authority forms are also available from the Accommodation Services office.

Late payments

Rent and incidental fees must be paid on the fifth working day of the month. If you are unable to pay the outstanding amount, please contact the Accommodation Service office, prior to the due date. Late fees and lock outs apply until your account is paid in full.
