Has your degree at La Trobe prepared you well for the workplace?

Studying at La Trobe provided me with strong problem solving skills. At the same time I was introduced to a broad range of technical skills. Working on my project exposed me to Project Management, which helps me a lot during my work.

My lecturers and tutors were very helpful and friendly. They always encouraged me and guided me to expand my knowledge and experience.

Tell us a little about your work history

After graduation I worked as an Estimation Engineer in the Electrical Industry for a year. I worked on different international projects finding solutions for customers. I worked with EPCs (Engineering Procurement & Construction) internationally such as Samsung, GS Engineering, Dealim, JGC Corporation, Honeywell and Yokogawa.

Now I am working with Pepperl+Fuchs Australia Pty Ltd as a Proposal Engineer. I work on a variety of projects where I find solutions for custom-made design requirements for use in Hazardous Areas. This allows me to deal with engineers all around the world.

What are things you enjoy most about your job?

Every day is a new day with different challenges. But there are always solutions to those challenges. Being an engineer means you have the strength to never give up.

I work with an experienced team of engineers on large scale projects worth millions of dollars from all around the world. I enjoy the opportunity to explore different working cultures.

What advice can you offer to current students?

Make sure you love whatever you do in life and be passionate about achieving your goals. Never hesitate to explore and experiment with your skills. Being a student at uni is the best time you will ever have, so make the most out of it and enjoy.
