GRO: Orientation and face-to-face Orientation
We want to offer you the best possible start to your candidature. For that we have created two Orientation components that work together to get you off to a great start. You can access the online Orientation at any time, even before you arrive at La Trobe. And because research students can commence their studies at different times during the year, we are offering face-to-face sessions to bring everyone together at the beginning of each Semester. Complete both and you will be equipped with the tools to make your research experience a successful and rewarding one.
Use this induction checklist [DOC 116KB] to ensure you familiarise yourself with the processes and the resources available to you, and you keep track of your progress.
Graduate Research Online (GRO) Orientation
We developed our online Orientation, to make sure you get the right support, at the right time.
All the information you need to get you off to a flying start is there:
- the typical stages of a graduate research degree
- how supervision relationships work
- current graduate researchers experiences at La Trobe
- understanding the progress and reporting system
- what's expected of a thesis
- ethics and integrity and life as a researcher.
Book your face-to-face Orientation session
On Orientation day you will get to meet the graduate research community, learn about more resources that you can access and meet the people who will be supporting you through your candidature. Face-to-face orientation sessions take place near the beginning of each semester.
