SmartSat CRC PhD Scholarship
Background
The SmartSat invites expressions of interest for PhD scholarships commencing in 2021. Successful candidates will need to be enrolled with one of their university partners and will work on applied R&D which aligns with their research programs. La Trobe University is a core partner of the SmartCRC.
The SmartSat CRC is the largest space industry-research collaboration in Australia’s history. The SmartSat CRC is a consortium of universities and other research organisations, partnered with industry that has been funded by the Australian Government to develop know-how and technologies in advanced telecommunications and IoT connectivity, intelligent satellite systems and Earth observation next generation data services. The impact of this research will be to develop intellectual property and a specialist industry expertise that will spawn new businesses, create export economic value and generate new high-tech jobs for all Australians.
The SmartSat CRC scholarships with industry will support full time PhD candidates to undertake research in a broad range of areas. Refer to SmartSat CRC to find out more.
Are you eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:
Scholarships are available for Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Non-residents will be considered, subject to project-specific requirements.
Applicants must be enrolled, or will be seeking to enrol, in the PhD at La Trobe University.
Applicants should have a first-class honours degree or equivalent in a related discipline or a Masters degree that contains a significant (and relevant) research component with equivalent academic performance, e.g., electronic/computer engineering.

Express your interest to your current supervisor or a potential supervisor with the relevant research area.
Together with your current or potential supervisor, develop a research proposal using the application form.
Submit your application and supporting information to SmartSat CRC.
In parallel to submitting your application to the SmartSat CRC, apply for admission to the PhD at La Trobe if you are not currently enrolled.
