GRO: Orientation and face-to-face Orientation
Congratulations on joining the La Trobe research community! A Graduate Research Degree is your chance to grow as a researcher, and to contribute original and valuable knowledge to your discipline and the world. We are excited to meet you and to help you get started on your researcher journey.
Orientation: face-to-face and online
Research candidates can commence their studies at any time during the year, so La Trobe offers regular face-to-face sessions at Bundoora and Bendigo campuses, and individual orientation meetings are offered to candidates at Albury-Wodonga, Mildura, Shepparton, and External campuses.
The online learning tool, Graduate Research Online (GRO): Orientation, can be accessed at any time, including before your candidature starts.
Together with your local induction, conversations with your supervisors, the Induction Checklist, preparation for your Progress Milestones, and workshops, you will be well supported to make a strong start to your Masters by Research, PhD or Professional Doctorate.
Book your face-to-face Orientation session
At the face-to-face Orientation session, you will get to meet other graduate research candidates, learn about more resources that you can access, and hear from the people who will be supporting you through your candidature.
Candidates are also encouraged to participate in the university’s Orientation Weeks in February and July to find out more about all the resources and opportunities open to Graduate Researchers at La Trobe, including Student IT, Careers, and Student Wellbeing. Put together your individualised schedule via the La Trobe Students Orientation Planner.
