Learn about the value of working relationally, mindfully and collaboratively to support clients living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)/complex needs. Attention will also be paid to participants supporting themselves, supporters/carers and family relationships.

Mental health and community services continue to face challenges in meeting the complex needs of individuals and families affected by BPD. Although there have been developments in treatments for people living with BPD, appreciating and responding to the impacts on caring and supportive relationships with professionals and families/supporters remains a marginalised area in mental health and wellbeing care.

This workshop explores relational approaches to supporting people living with BPD and complex needs—offering practical insights to improve outcomes for clients, families, and care systems.

Drawing from a range of therapeutic traditions, we will sample key practices of relational mindfulness, ‘re-stor(y)ing’ the conversation, re-starting reflection, validating communications, and relational limit setting to inform our practice.
