Find your pathway into university
There are more ways for high school students to get into university than you think.
What is a pathway?

A pathway helps you get into your chosen course through another qualification. For example, if you don’t have the required ATAR, you can still get into a Bachelor’s degree by studying a Diploma first. Another pathway from Year 12 is through TAFE. You can also study a related degree and then apply for a transfer to your chosen course.
How does this benefit you?
Gain entry with more accessible entry requirements
Study a course with more accessible entry requirements and use it as a stepping stone to your dream course.
Reduce your reliance on your ATAR
We have a variety of entry programs that can reduce your reliance on your ATAR or remove the need for it entirely by applying for an entry program.
Get educational disadvantage support
The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) provides special consideration for those who have experienced some form of educational disadvantage.

Our graduates journey to their dream courses

My pathway into higher education was via TAFE. I completed my Diploma of Community Services at TAFE, then applied for my degree at La Trobe. I entered straight into the second year thanks to the credit I received from my Diploma.

Teaching was in my heart when I came to Australia. Where I come from, not many go to school. A friend told me that I needed a pathway, and I heard about the La Trobe Tertiary Enabling Program. It got me into teaching. It’s been fantastic.

My GOTAFE pathway was pivotal. I hadn’t studied since graduating from secondary school - I didn’t think I was capable of uni study. I’ve never been so nervous as my first day. That only lasted an hour though as the students and lecturers are so helpful.
