Employers and advertisers advertising on CareerHub must accept and abide by these terms and conditions.
CareerHub is an online database used by La Trobe University Career Development Centre to advertise job vacancies to students and recent graduates of La Trobe University.
All employers and advertisers advertising on CareerHub must comply with employment laws and conditions in the country where the work is carried out.
Employers and advertises must ensure all information they provide in their vacancy and services do not breach any law or the rights of any person. All employers and advertisers who wish to use Career Hub in Australia, must comply with all relevant legislation including, but not limited to, the Workplace Relations Act 1996 (Cth), Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth), Fair Trading Act 1999 (Vic), Equal Opportunity Act 1995 (Vic), Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), Age Discrimination Act 2004 (Cth), Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1986 (Cth) and Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
The content of advertisements is the complete responsibility of the employer or advertiser.
No administrative fee will be incurred for advertising on CareerHub.
Third party recruiters, including recruitment agencies, tutoring agencies or any organisation that receives a fee to recruit on behalf of their client, must advertise actual/specific job vacancies. La Trobe University Career Development Centre does not accept advertisements for students to "register for possible opportunities" through any type of agency or third party recruiter.
The maximum amount of time that an advertisement can stay live on CareerHub is four weeks.
Salary: An hourly, weekly, monthly or annual figure must be supplied for each vacancy. A range or minimum is acceptable as is reference to a relevant Award. A separate training wage is not acceptable unless it complies with State or Federal Awards or Agreements. If listing an Award, the actual name of the Award must be provided (eg. Transport Workers Award 1998).
All submitted vacancies are subject to approval by La Trobe University Career Development Centre staff before being advertised on the website. Only genuine job vacancies will be advertised. If insufficient or incorrect information is supplied, there will be delays in the advertising of vacancies.
Advertisements are processed Monday to Friday between 9am and 4.30pm, except when the University is closed.
La Trobe University Career Development Centre reserves the right in its absolute discretion to refuse, or withdraw, any advertisement from our site for any reason without explanation including, but not limited to, the following:
- where non-compliance with these terms and conditions has occurred;
- misleading or incorrect information has been provided;
- a complaint about the employer or advertiser have been received;
- where non-compliance with the law is reasonably suspected;
- the vacancy is considered to be inappropriate.
La Trobe University Career Development Centre will not advertise the following:
- commission only jobs;
- work involving unpaid or reduced pay training / trial periods;
- "business opportunities";
- franchise ownership opportunities;
- pyramid schemes;
- positions where students must purchase a product or service;
- participation in research, if the research project has not received the approval of University Standing Committee on Ethics in Research on Humans;
Liability and Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, La Trobe University accepts no liability whatsoever to users, employers and advertisers in respect of any loss or damage (including but not limited to consequential and/or indirect loss or damage) which may be suffered or incurred or which may arise directly or indirectly in respect of services provided by La Trobe University Career Development Centre whether in contract, tort, under statute or whether due to the negligence, deliberate conduct, act or omission of La Trobe University or its staff.
Employers and Advertisers must indemnify La Trobe University and its staff against all claims, actions, damages, costs and expenses incurred on any account by La Trobe University as a result of their vacancy.
La Trobe University Career Development Centre does not recommend or endorse any organisations featured on CareerHub.
La Trobe University Career Development Centre does not act as an agent for an employer or advertiser.
Although the La Trobe University Career Development Centre jobs website is for La Trobe University students and graduates only, La Trobe University Career Development Centre cannot guarantee that others will not view and apply for advertised vacancies. La Trobe University Career Development Centre accepts no responsibility for screening applicants and gives no assurance as to the suitability or skills of any student, graduate or other person who applies for any advertised position.
