Background

This scholarship supports a recently arrived Muslim student in the name of First Nation elder, Jackie Huggins as a symbol of the oldest culture welcoming the newest arrival.

Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder, who was not born in Australia
  • be a commencing student in your first year of your first undergraduate Bachelor degree in 2021
  • be able to demonstrate educational disadvantage
  • identify as Muslim
  • have recently arrived in Australia and have been born outside of Australia

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

  • application form
  • personal statement outlining:
    • personal goals and ambitions
    • educational disadvantage
    • reasons for applying for the scholarship
  • evidence of having been born outside Australia
  • demonstration of being aligned to the Muslim faith
