How is it paid?

$5000 per annum for up to 3 years. $5000 to assist with research operational expenses.

Background

These scholarships are established to support up to three doctoral research students undertaking research in one of the following focus areas:
  • sustainability
  • energy management
  • energy efficiency
  • lighting.
The scholarships are funded by Sonepar/SLS, a global leader in electrical and lighting solutions, employing over 22,000 people globally and operating in 44 countries across 5 continents. SLS is a Sonepar subsidiary and is currently supplying and installing over 25,000 LED light fittings across all La Trobe campuses.

As an applicant you should have an interest in environmental sustainability and/or energy efficiency and be undertaking a research project that is addressing a challenge in one of the listed focus areas.

Benefits of the scholarship include:
  • a stipend with a value of $5,000 per annum for up to three years, to support your living costs
  • funding of $5,000 to assist in funding your research operational and/or travel costs.

Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • be currently enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of a doctoral research degree at La Trobe University
  • be undertaking a research project relevant to the themes of the scholarship.

Email a statement addressing the following (maximum 200 words each) to grs@latrobe.edu.au:

  • Summarise the aims and current progress of your research project
  • Explain how your project aligns to one or more of the focus areas of the scholarship listed above
  • Explain the potential impact of your research project to Australian or global communities.
The University will carefully review your application and consider you for this scholarship. You will be advised of an outcome in March.
