Background

This prestigious scholarship, established by La Trobe University in partnership with Parade College, will be awarded to an outstanding applicant who is interested in exploring the social practices that connect them with people with Autism within their educational context.

This study will draw on critically reflective practice to position teachers, individuals with autism and their families at the centre of the inquiry. Emerging knowledge and practices will inform understandings of inclusive education more broadly as we seek to respond to the unique educational needs of students with ASD.

Applicants should be interested in exploring one of the following research questions:

  • How does critical reflection on and in practice support students with ASD to thrive in schools? OR
  • How is the professional knowledge teachers have of students with ASD transformed through critically reflective practice?

Benefits of the scholarship include:

  • a La Trobe Research Scholarship for three and a half years, with a value of $28,597.00 per annum, to support your living costs (2020 rate)
  • a fee-relief scholarship for up to four years
  • relocation allowance and publication/thesis allowance
