ARCH Director - Eastern Health

Professor Nicholas Taylor is Director of the Eastern Health ARCH. He is also a Professor of Allied Health, a joint position between Eastern Health and La Trobe University. He leads the Allied Health Clinical Research Office at Eastern Health, which supports the research culture within the organisation. Professor Taylor specialises in improving rehabilitation outcomes. He has developed and evaluated exercise programs for people with health conditions, including fracture rehabilitation. Key projects include National Health and Medical Research Council-funded trials investigating the effects of an extra day of rehabilitation and reducing waiting times in community and outpatient services.

Research group

Dr Katherine Harding is a Principal Research Fellow and Manager of the Allied Health Clinical Research Office at Eastern Health. Dr Harding leads a range of projects in triage and access systems for ambulatory services, improving outcomes for patients returning to the community after rehabilitation, and promoting research culture in health services. She is Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Health Services Research Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Amy Dennett is a physiotherapist, and Victorian Cancer Agency Fellow. She specialises in research aiming to improve physical activity levels of people with cancer through rehabilitation. She is passionate about translating research into practice to improve access to and outcomes in cancer rehabilitation.

Annie Lewis is a Research and Translation Fellow. Her research focuses on improving access to outpatient, ambulatory and community care through interventions to reduce waiting lists and manage demand. She has also worked as an occupational therapist with clinical and management experience in acute, sub-acute, community and educational settings.

Michelle Rutherford
Director Learning &Teaching

Michelle Rutherford is a registered nurse, and Director Learning & Teaching, Pre-registration and Transition to Practice Programs at Eastern Health for allied health, nursing and midwifery. These programs host 3,000 students and 250 graduates across the health service. Most recently she has shared the Project Sponsor role to lead a Statewide Allied Health Mental Health Graduate and Transition Program Model in collaboration with the Department of Health.

Anne Thompson
Associate Director, Student Programs

Anne Thompson is the Associate Director for Student programs in the Learning and Teaching Directorate at Eastern Health.  Anne has worked as a manager and team leader across multiple clinical  programs and has a strong interest in health research.  She is passionate about the student experience, ensuring students who come to our health service are well prepared and have the best preparation possible for an exciting career in health.
