Ahead of the CommBank Matildas’ international friendly series against Argentina, Football Australia will be hosting a free open training session for the team at The Home of the Matildas on Tuesday 27 May.
The open training session will give La Trobe students, staff and the wider community an opportunity to watch the nation’s premier female footballers go through their paces as the CommBank Matildas prepare to take on Argentina in Melbourne (at Marvel Stadium on May 30) and Canberra (June 2) during the May/June FIFA Women’s International Window.
The open training session will mark the Matildas’ first appearance at their very own purpose-built, high-performance home base at La Trobe’s Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus since December last year.
Gates will open at 3:00pm AEDT, with training scheduled to start at 3:50pm, running for approximately 60-minutes. The Fan Day will conclude at 5.15pm. No autograph and/or photo session is guaranteed as part of the proceedings.
Attending fans will be able to situate themselves around the pitch at the Home of the Matildas and can enter the venue via the main entrance off La Trobe University’s Sports Drive.
There is limited parking available on-site at the Home of the Matildas, located within the La Trobe University Sports Park precinct. Accessible (disabled) parking is available close to the venue entrance. The closest tram service is Route 86, which stops at La Trobe University and is approximately a 10–15-minute walk to the venue. Several bus routes also service the Bundoora area and La Trobe University, including Routes 250, 251, 350, and 548, with stops located within walking distance of the Sports Park. Please note, no event-specific public transport services will be operating for this event.
