Annual Shutdown

When?

The annual Maintenance Shutdown has been scheduled from Thursday 20 December 2018 to Sunday 13 January 2019 (inclusive).

Power and Lighting

There will be power and lighting outages for up to eight hours on Saturday 5 January, Sunday 06, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 January 2019. The list of buildings that will be impacted has yet to be determined and will be advised in the coming months.

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning will continue to operate in the Library, The Learning Commons and all areas where individual split system units are installed.

There will be a loss of air conditioning within buildings Beth Gleeson, Donald Whitehead, Terraces 3, 4, 5 and 6, Education 1 and 2, Hooper and Szental Lecture Theatre, Health Sciences 3, Humanities 2, LIMS1, Physical Sciences 2 and the Western Lecture Theatre for the entire period.

Hot Water

There will be a loss of hot water within many buildings including the Indoor Sports Centre, CycleSmart Centre showers, some Agora retail tenancies and some residential areas for the entire period.

Why?

The Maintenance Shutdown is an essential part of the La Trobe University planned maintenance program.  The Shutdown consolidates work on the University's critical infrastructure and aims to reduce outages throughout the year.

How to prepare for the Maintenance Shutdown

Please make yourself aware of the specific details for your building, once this information becomes available, by visiting the Infrastructure and Operations Division on the La Trobe Intranet.

The hire and installation of back-up power (via a generator) will be arranged.  Back-up power is only supplied to areas where the shutdown will cause substantial loss to vital goods, equipment or research.
