Supporting dancers for a career beyond ballet

For more than six years The Australian Ballet’s former dancer Richard House has performed at the pinnacle of Australian dance. Like many elite athletes, Richard has built his dancing career from early childhood, training six days a week to achieve perfection in the technical and artistic skills required.

From talented youngsters to full-time professionals, Richard knows the importance of preparing yourself for a career beyond the demanding physical performance of ballet. La Trobe University is Richard’s preferred choice for further education due to the extra support provided for students achieving excellence in their life in the La Trobe Elite Athlete Program.

Through La Trobe University's partnership with The Australian Ballet, elite dancers, former and present, can receive support to prepare for careers beyond the stage.

A partnership as flexible as the elite dancers it supports

Through the La Trobe Elite Athlete Program, dancers, current or former, of The Australian Ballet can access valuable education and pre-transition career development. The program provides flexibility and help to these elite dancers to balance university study. They'll receive dedicated academic support, assistance with enrolment and timetabling, flexible assessment, tailored career advice and access to exclusive scholarships.

Watch our interview with Richard House, an elite dancer for The Australian Ballet and current Bachelor of Health Sciences student at La Trobe, to discover how we're helping Australia's best transition to careers after ballet.
