STREAM OPTIONS
Two Streams. One Cohort. Your Path Forward.
LaunchPad provides two entry pathways designed to meet founders where they are. While each stream supports a different stage of the startup journey, they unite weekly for accountability sessions and join forces in the final four weeks to sharpen pitches and prepare for investor presentations.
Application Process
-
Submit an Application (includes video submission)
Interested participants must submit an application by Sunday 26 July at 11.59pm.
While participants may indicate their preferred stream, program organisers will assign successful applicants in the stream that best aligns with the startup’s stage and needs. This ensures successful applicants receive relevant support, whether that’s fast‑paced acceleration or structured idea development.
If you need support completing the application form, contact Nadia Foti, LaunchPad Program and Community Coordinator, n.foti@latrobe.edu.au
-
Interview stage
Select applicants may be invited to interview, on a case‑by‑case basis. Not all applicants will need this step – if a submission provides enough clarity the selection team will make a direct decision about entry into one of the program streams.
-
Successful applicants notified
Successful applicants will receive confirmation of their placement and assigned Stream (Startmate or La Trobe Discovery) by Monday 3 August.
-
Onboarding and Program Payment
Onboarding and program payment is required to secure your place in the program. The program fee is $449 for Victorian participants (a heavily subsidised rate made possible through the support of LaunchVic). For applicants located outside Victoria, program cost is $2,295.

Startmate was created in 2011 when there was latent creativity and potential in Australia, but no venture capital or accelerators to support it.
Niki Scevak (who would go on to found Blackbird Ventures) and a bunch of successful founders (including Mike and Scott from Atlassian) put their money where their mouths were. Everyone invested $10k into a micro-fund to invest in the next generation of early-stage founders, and started building a community of successful founders to support them. Nowadays, Startmate runs two Accelerator cohorts a year and have a world-class community of VCs, mentors and alumni who share our vision, all of whom invest their own time and money into each cohort. To date we have invested in 170+ startups.
Startmate challenge and support the ecosystem to think bigger. Their mission is to create a prosperous country as the world progresses.
LaunchVic is Victoria’s startup agency. Their role is to fuel the growth of Victoria’s startup ecosystem. They do this by building the confidence and capability of Victorians to create, scale and invest in startups. They were established by the Victorian Government in 2016.
