First aid training

First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training are provided by St John Ambulance.

The team at St John Ambulance will prepare you to deliver a critical, competent and confident first aid response in the event of an illness or emergency situation.

All St John Ambulance trainers have qualifications as nurses or paramedics. This training is delivered online and on-site at your campus, and is available to La Trobe students and staff.

Courses available

Provide First Aid

First aid training will develop your knowledge and skills to provide CPR and first aid for a range of illnesses and injuries, enabling you to coordinate first aid until the arrival of medical assistance.

  • nationally recognised course
  • practical CPR performed on an adult and infant manikin
  • certification valid for three years

Provide Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

CPR training is also available as a separate course. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to deliver CPR to an unconscious non-breathing person (infant, child and adult).

  • delivered in a 3.5 hour face-to-face trainer-led workshop

Statement of Attainment

A Statement of Attainment (Certificate) will be emailed after successfully completing the course.

Your USI must be recorded with St John as a certificate can’t be issued until the USI is recorded and an online feedback form completed at the end of the course.
