FAQ - Short-stay accommodation

All our short-stay accommodation are dormitory-style rooms. Each guest has their own room, sharing facilities such as common rooms, kitchens, and toilets with other guests staying on that floor/building.

We offer short-stay accommodation all year round, but availability depends on when you enquire and existing bookings for your chosen dates.

All short-stay groups have the option to include breakfast, lunch, and dinner catering alongside their accommodation. Breakfast and dinner are normally served as a buffet at our Dining Hall while lunch can either be packaged and delivered within La Trobe or also served as a buffet.

You don’t need to bring bedsheets or towels, but toiletries like shampoo and toothpaste are not provided so you will need to bring your own.

The closest supermarket is the IGA convenience store on campus located in the Agora. For a larger option, there's a Woolworths at Polaris Shopping Centre, on the corner of Plenty Road and Main Drive.

If you lock yourself out of your room, contact the person overseeing your stay, who can use their master access to let you in. Otherwise, you can call the Accommodation Services team at 03 9479 1071.

If you lose your key card, please call the Accommodation Services team for assistance as well. Note, a $50 fee applies for each lost key card.

Yes, paid parking is available at our Melbourne campus. The University carparks operate on a pay-as-you-go basis, so you can pay only for the time you use. A valid permit is required Monday to Friday, between 8 am – 5 pm.
