Funded by the Australian Government, Dementia Training Australia (DTA) provides dementia education and training to the aged care and general practice workforce across Australia.

Established in 2016, DTA is a consortium led by the University of Wollongong and comprising:

  • Dementia Australia
  • La Trobe University
  • Queensland University of Technology; and
  • The University of Western Australia

DTA combines the expertise of these consortium members to deliver a coordinated national approach to dementia training for individuals and organisations.

Our mission

“To improve the knowledge and skills of the workforce who are involved in supporting people living with dementia and their carers. We focus on evidence-based standards in the development and delivery of practical education and learning pathways for individuals and organisations.”

As with everyone in DTA, the La Trobe team are passionate about the care of people living with dementia and supporting aged care and general practice staff who provide that care. We value working closely with organisations to translate research knowledge into practice and to bring about effective and sustainable practice change.

  • Pain Management Consultancy Service
  • Tailored Training Programs
  • Developing and delivering training resources and courses.
