Institute for Human Security and Social Change
The Institute is committed to supporting agents of progressive social change in development. We aim to better understand, support and share the practice of activists, practitioners and collective action processes in promoting progressive social change. We work to further the interaction of high quality research, policy and practice, with a particular focus on engaging nationally, in Asia and the Pacific.
We work closely with practitioners to build strong practice for effective social change. All of the research conducted through the Institute is intended to feed directly in to practice, as well as to inform academic debate and discussion. The researchers associated with the Institute conduct applied research, and use their research findings to engage with practitioners on their ongoing programs. A number of the Institute's staff members are experienced development practitioners, who engage directly with other practitioners on their social change programs. Other experienced development practitioners are drawn in to research, teaching and events within the Institute, to ensure that all teaching and research work is grounded in practice.
