EBSCOhost databases you may be familiar with include (but are not limited to) Art & Architecture Source, Business Source Complete, CINAHL, ERIC, and SocINDEX.
Actions to take before 15 July
Prior to 15 July 2025 users with personal EBSCOhost accounts should check where your saved searches and journal alerts are located by logging into your EBSCOhost account.
- For Saved Searches - If in ‘My Custom’ or ‘Shared By’ transfer Saved Searches using the ‘Move To’ tab, to ‘My Folder’.
- For Journal Alerts - As these will not be transferred automatically, record your list of journal titles.
For a step by step visual guide to preparing your saved searches to migrate successfully, EBSCO has created a video: Moving saved searches from custom folders to MyFolder.
Actions to take after 15 July
You will need to recreate your saved searches and journal alerts after the change.
- For Saved Searches - retrieve/run your Search from ‘My Folder’ and create a new search alert.
- For Journal Alerts – create new journal alerts.
Permalinks to articles and other items will still be active. If you have articles, eBooks, images or videos saved in ‘My Folder’ these will be transferred to the new interface.
What will be different
Some of the improvements in the new interface:
- Bulk export of up to 25,000 search results, including in RIS format – must be logged in to EBSCO account to use this.
- PDFs will have text-to-speech functionality.
- Export eBook PDFs from search without opening eBook.
- ‘Zero search’ is available – just select relevant filters, no keywords necessary.
- By default, search filters will remain active if you do another search – clicking ‘new search’ will remove them.
