Driven by natural curiosity and a fascination with unsolved mysteries, Aayushi Arora embarked on a PhD in neuroscience.
“I chose La Trobe because of its strong neuroscience research community, supportive mentorship, and collaborative environment that will allow me to transform into an independent scientist while making meaningful contributions to the field,” she says.
Aayushi’s research investigates how practical, lifestyle-based strategies, such as intermittent fasting, may influence age-related cognitive decline.
Since starting her PhD, Aayushi has been recognised for her research excellence. She was recently awarded Second Place and the coveted 3MT People’s Choice Award in the 2025 La Trobe 3 Minute Thesis University Championship for her presentation ‘Brain vs. Buffet: Can Fasting Keep You Sharp?’. She also won the People’s Choice Award in the recent Visualise Your Thesis competition.
When she completes her studies, Aayushi is keen to continue her career in science as a postdoctoral researcher.
“Alongside my research ambitions, I am deeply interested in the entrepreneurial side of science and aspire to explore how innovations can be translated into impactful solutions.”
“I am particularly keen on learning more about the pathway from research to commercialisation, with the long-term goal of establishing my own science-based venture.”
