Description
The existing sciences wet labs in rooms BS1 124 and 126 are to be refurbished to provide new Exercise Science teaching facilities.
Overview
Student demand in the Exercise Science Program has been rapidly increasing and achieved its projected growth target in 2016.
This has placed a burden on the current practical teaching spaces for the Exercise Science program.
The project will provide appropriate practical laboratory facilities until the Program is relocated to the Sports Park Precinct in 2020.
This facility will have 2 mirror-imaged labs for up to 30 students each, consisting oaf :
- a teaching area with an audio-visual teaching station and monitors;
- a gym training/testing exercise area; and
- a recovery area with ice bath and examination couch. Between the two labs (room 125) is a store and preparation area to service the two laboratories.
This project provides a student benefit in alignment with the Future Ready strategies (student experience) by providing up-to-date teaching facilities for students undertaking a course with increasing demand.
Project status
This project was completed on 1 March 2018.
Benefits
This project provided appropriate facilities to deliver the Exercise Physiology and Biomechanical programs.
