What are clinical trials?
A clinical trial is defined as “any research study that prospectively assigns human participants or groups of humans to one or more health-related interventions to evaluate the effects on health outcomes” (WHO, 2023). Clinical research and clinical trials are crucial to the evaluation and development of new treatments and interventions. Research translation enables us to test and to understand the safety and effectiveness of new methods to diagnose, treat, and prevent various conditions.
