La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship for Domestic Students
Background
La Trobe University recognises the valuable contribution that people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds make to the Australian community.
The La Trobe Humanitarian Scholarship (Domestic) supports eligible students undertaking on-campus undergraduate studies.
Recipients will receive a scholarship to the value of AUD $5000 each year for the normal full time duration of their degree.
Tuition costs are not covered.
Applications for 2027 are open now until 9 October 2026 (5pm).
Are you eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:
• Be deemed as a person seeking asylum or a refugee holding one of the following:
1. Resolution of Status (RoS) Visa (Subclass 851)
2. Protection Visa (Subclass 866)
3. Permanent Protection/Humanitarian Visa (Subclasses 200, 201, 202, 203 or 204)
• Successfully receive a course offer via VTAC and enrol in Semester 1 2027 in an undergraduate degree*
* Please note students enrolled in Open Universities Australia, third-party providers and online courses are not eligible.
Recipient obligations
1. You must inform the Scholarships Office immediately if your visa changes.
2. Read and understand the Terms and Conditions of your scholarship.
How to apply
Submit an application via the VTAC Schemes and Scholarships application portal. Applications close 9 October 2026 at 5pm.
