Background

In Semester 2 2026, La Trobe University will offer a limited number of scholarships and bursaries to support new and continuing domestic students experiencing disadvantage.

All applicants are assessed through a single Access Scholarship application process. Based on your eligibility and supporting documentation, we’ll match you to the scholarship or bursary that best fits your circumstances. Students eligible for multiple awards will receive the highest-value offer available.

As funding is limited and demand is high, these awards are provided through a competitive selection process.

Scholarships are valued from $2,500 per semester, with bursaries available as one‑off payments from $1,000.

To strengthen your application, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit relevant supporting documents.

Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Meet criteria and provide proof of disadvantage through supporting documentation (examples of disadvantage can include educational, financial, caring for others, non-English speaking background, disability, or other hardship or disadvantage)
  • Be enrolled in any coursework degree in Semester 2 2026 (i.e. not a research degree).

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

  • supporting documentation to verify the information provided in your application. For more information regarding types of acceptable supporting documentation please view the Advice and information for scholarship applicants page and scroll down to Eligibility Criteria Definitions to expand.
Note: students studying with a La Trobe partner provider are not eligible.

How to apply

Please submit the online general application form. You only need to submit one application. We’ll automatically consider you for all Access Scholarships and bursaries you’re eligible for and match you to the best available support.
