Background

Take Two is a state-wide therapeutic program for infants, children, young people and their families who have experienced developmental trauma. Take Two works intensively with the infant, child or young person, their family, carers and other services, to help them recover from the trauma of child abuse, neglect and violence.

This prestigious scholarship, established by Berry Street’s Take Two Program is in partnership with La Trobe University, Mindful Centre for Training & Research in Developmental Health and Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA). The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Robin Dennis Clark (1936–2001), a visionary leader who has greatly influenced current practice in Victorian child, youth and family services.

Applicants for the scholarship require a high level of academic and/or career achievement, including a first-class honours degree or equivalent. You should also have a strong interest in working with traumatised children, particularly within the child protection and out of home care sectors. Furthermore, your proposed project will have significance for traumatised children in the child protection and/or out of home care sector.

Benefits of the scholarship include:

  • a stipend scholarship for three and a half years, with a value of $26,288 per annum, to support your living costs (2020 rate)
  • a fee-relief scholarship for up to four years to undertake a PhD at La Trobe University
  • opportunities to work with La Trobe’s outstanding researchers, and have access to our suite of professional development programs
