We teach into La Trobe’s Science, Biomedicine, Biological Science and Allied Health courses.

We specialise in cardiometabolic disease, developmental biology, host-pathogen interactions, microbial ecology, musculoskeletal function, neurodegenerative diseases and pain management.

Our Department is part of La Trobe's School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment.

Research booklet

We investigate how biomolecules, cells, organ systems, disease and the environment interact to form functioning organisms. We have research partnerships with state, federal and non-government agencies, and world-renowned medical research institutes, and are home to the Centre for Cardiovascular Biology and Disease Research.
