Turosi Climate Risk Tool
La Trobe University researchers have developed a climate risk dashboard helping Australian poultry producer Turosi anticipate extreme weather, strengthen supply chain resilience and make more informed operational decisions.

Turosi is the third largest poultry processing company in Australia, supplying major supermarkets and fast-food retailers. Alongside more than 1200 employees in their core facilities, the company maintains a network of over 100 farms from Queensland to regional Victoria. However, the scale and complexity of their operation leaves them vulnerable to climate extremes such as flood, bushfire and heatwave across their supply chain.
To perform climate risk analysis and take steps for its effective mitigation, Turosi engaged researchers from La Trobe's Centre for Data Analytics and Cognition to develop a dashboard capable of modelling current conditions and forecasting possible scenarios. As well as planning for emergency situations, the dashboard has provided Turosi with operational diagnostics, for example, insights into energy consumption and logistics, with the ability to inform day-to-day decision-making. It also supports Turosi's climate-related sustainability reporting by providing data and analysis relevant to the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.
