LASEM Consumer and Community Network
The La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre (LASEM), an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Research Centre and NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence, hosts a network of Consumer Advisory Groups (CAGs) and Scientific Advisory Groups (SAGs) comprising individuals with lived experience and key stakeholders across musculoskeletal and sports health.
Our panels include individuals with lived experience of knee and hip conditions and concussion, parents/carers, clinicians, and researchers. Our panels represent diverse ages, injury pathways, and levels of sport and healthcare settings. Collectively, these consumer groups offer lived-experience expertise in areas such as women’s knee health, hip health, patellofemoral pain, osteoarthritis care, running-related health, and concussion.
A key focus of our work is improving outcomes for women and girls, aligned with the HERKnee Centre of Research Excellence (HerKnee CRE), which aims to reduce the burden of knee injury and osteoarthritis in women.
External partners can engage the LASEM Consumer and Community Network to contribute across the research cycle, to ensure research is relevant, patient-centred, and grounded in real-world experience.
