La Trobe’s University City of the Future has taken its next important step, with the University seeking a Master Development Partner to help further realise this ambitious plan to transform Melbourne’s north.
The University City of the Future is a key pillar of La Trobe’s Strategic Plan and is central to the University’s long-term goal to transform its 235-hectare Bundoora campus into a vibrant city. The project includes a dynamic Research and Innovation Precinct, world-class sporting and sports research facilities, a major Health and Wellbeing Hub, and vibrant new commercial, retail and residential developments.
La Trobe is seeking expressions of interest from a partner who has extensive experience of leading large-scale, complex projects and who shares the University’s cultural values. The Master Development Partner will bring property knowledge, expertise and investment to support the University’s ambitious vision.
The University City of the Future will ultimately set La Trobe on a path of renewal, delivering revenue, social and economic growth for the University and wider community, and bringing significant benefits to students, staff, industry and partners.
The University City transformation is a long-term project that is already well underway including:
- A world-class Sports Park, open for teaching, research, community participation and elite sport
- A new 624-bed modern and sustainable North and South Apartments for students opened this year
- A commitment to enhancing and protecting La Trobe’s bio-diverse waterway, Nangak Tamboree
- A Research and Innovation Precinct which includes two new Innovation Hubs which will connect businesses with research, students and infrastructure
