Our vision

We're committed to a sustainable future

At La Trobe, we have a long and proud history of pursuing sustainable practices, and we’re committed to being sustainable for today and tomorrow.

In 2019, we launched our Net Zero program with a $75 million commitment to become carbon neutral by 2029, achieving this milestone for our regional campuses in 2022.

Our goals

  • Develop, fund and deliver the university-wide program
  • Fast-track our net zero emissions
  • Ensure security, reliability and cost-certainty of supply
  • Deliver projects that exceed environmental, financial and community targets
  • Support the La Trobe University City transformation
  • Create benefits for our students, staff and the wider community.

Key milestones

Through this strategy, we remain a leader in sustainability, achieving key milestones, including:

  • Our regional campuses were certified carbon neutral in 2022.
  • We're set to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2029.
  • Development of LEAP, our energy AI platform, which operates as a “Living Lab” for learning, teaching and economic benefits.
