A City of Villages
The La Trobe University City will be an inclusive and vibrant place to live, work, learn, visit and experience everything that Melbourne’s north can offer. A diverse mix of new residential housing will bring improved amenity benefits to residents in local neighbourhoods and new opportunities for community connection can be realised.
The current university core will form the city centre and connect to three diverse villages that will be self-sufficient in their design and located close to facilities and amenities that people need to thrive.
Each village will have its own focus that is supported by its location on the campus:
- City Centre: focused on academic and learning, the existing heart of La Trobe University’s teaching and learning facilities, which will be expanded to Plenty Road.
- Northern Village: focused on health with its location near the hospital and Health Clinic.
- Eastern Village: focused on student living, with existing student accommodation, sports facilities and terraces.
- Southern Village: focused on business and offices with a research and innovation precinct leveraged off existing research and co-locations.
