Department of Biochemistry and Chemistry partnerships

The Department of Biochemistry and Chemistry partners with a range of national and international teaching and research organisations.
Together, we are delivering high quality teaching programs to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and collaborating on fundamental and translational research projects.
Australian partnerships
We work closely with a range of organisations in Australia to tackle key issues in the biochemistry, biomedical and chemistry disciplines.
We have active research programs with institutes such as the Olivia Newton John Cancer Research Institute and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Other partners include Australian universities, government and industry.
Our connections to industry are also embedded in the University itself.
La Trobe’s Bio Innovation Hub supports the biotechnology industry to accelerate research, development and commercialisation through access to laboratory facilities, research infrastructure and a knowledge ecosystem. Our staff work with co-located companies such as Vivazome Therapeutics Pty Ltd to advance translational outcomes.
We also have over ten industry partners through the Australian Research Council Research Hub for Molecular Biosensors at Point-of-Use. The Hub’s primary goal is to accelerate the growth of Australia's emerging biosensing industry by bridging the gap between university research and industry, while also nurturing future leaders in the field.
International partnerships
Our partnerships support a range of international research and teaching programs including joint grants, leadership development, academic staff exchange and student mobility.
For example, La Trobe’s partnership with Singapore’s PSB Academy is the University’s largest offshore program, with around 1000 students enrolled in the Science and Biomedical Science degree programs.
Our staff help deliver our Biomedical Science, Master of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics courses, and Molecular Science subjects to students in Singapore.
